Vocational Training (stonemasonry)
1. One year full time City & Guilds diploma course in advanced stonemasonry for fee-paying students; includes restoration, stone carving and letter cutting. No previous experience is necessary. 2. CITB sponsored day-release courses up to NVQ level 3 (Mason) – 2 days per week. 3. 2-year (foundation) or 3-year (advanced) apprenticeships through CITB managing agency. Attendance at college on block release (12 weeks per year in 2 week blocks) 4. Evening fee-paying courses up to NVQ Level 2, mainly for experienced masons without qualifications, emphasis placed on accreditation of prior learning.

A 3-year full time course in sculpture, providing students with experience and training in the traditional techniques and materials associated with sculpture, stone carving, metal construction, bronze casting and mould making. Drawing plays an important role in the course, as does a full art history and business studies programme. Full time: Architectural Stonemasonry & Carving. 1 and 2 year courses designed for anyone wishing to take up employment in the stonemasonry and/or restoration fields, or develop specialised craft and tools skills to a proficient level. HND Applied Architectural Stonework course tutor is an accredited conservator. Emphasis is on achievement of high levels in masonry, carving and lettering and all aspects of stonemasonry conservation including lime mortars, traditional building techniques, mould-making, piecing in and mortar repairs, cleaning and consolidation, surveying and report writing.

The Trust offers a wide range of courses, varying from year to year as repairs to the mansion progress. Master-classes for conservation professionals are offered in stone, vaulting, window glass and stone slating repairs, as well as week/fortnight/month placements for students on recognised construction courses.
